Alvescot fete to be organised by new village charity!                  (4.5.18)

For many years the Alvescot Fete Committee has been providing financial help to good causes within the village and doing this all as a sub-committee of the Parish Council. Now however, the fete, together with other events, will be organized by an independent association that has been set up called, the Alvescot Village Association (or AVA). What’s more, the AVA has been accepted as a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation  (or CIO) by the Charity Commission. Should you wish to look up our details on the Charity Commission web site, our Charity Number is 1177350.

As the AVA, we will continue to support the village by providing grants to constituted organisations in Alvescot and the surrounding areas that meet with our charitable purposes. These include, education and training, religious activities, arts, culture, heritage, science, amateur sports and recreation.

Should your organisation wish to apply for a grant you may do so by contacting our Clerk, Mrs. Tessa Farley, The Firs, Station Road, Alvescot, Bampton, OX182PU and requesting an application form. The deadline for applications is June 30th 2018 with considerations by the Trustees to be given during the 2nd week of July and decisions given shortly thereafter.

The Alvescot Fete  “Kick Off” meeting!

Monday January 22nd 2018 The Plough, Alvescot

Everyone is welcome to join our opening meeting when we start the ball rolling for our fund raising efforts for 2018 culminating in our fabulous summer fete. We always need new volunteers and for those of you who have recently moved to Alvescot, it’s a fun way to get involved with village life and make new friends.

One of our first tasks is to think of an appropriate ‘theme’ for 2018 – something that lends itself to activities, music and even fancy dress and which perhaps celebrates something ‘special’ connected to this date. If you have any thoughts on this please let me know even in advance of the meeting because it’s good to have a list to consider when we first all get together.

Meanwhile, if you would like to get involved in someway to help us but can’t make the 22nd  January , just drop me an email or give me a call and I’ll make sure you are added to our team.

Looking forward to seeing you!
